Anyone have this on their X5?

Its the part in orange. Before I go hunting one down I wanted to see what one actually looked like installed. So does anyone have a pic of one installed? When you raise the cargo cover on mine your just looking at the spare tire. |
Yeah i think I’ve got one.. as for uploading a picture tho.. no idea how to! Mine has the sliding floor, with that cover underneath.

Ours with the sliding load tray has it, the other without doesn't. I think it's meant to keep stuff from falling off the edge of the tray all the way down into the spare tire well. I wouldn't think it would fit with the standard load floor, but csoerensen89 seems to have that setup.

That tray would not fit in my X5 - my 17" full-size spare has a large central "stand-off" that holds up the centre of the cargo floor - part #9 in this diagram.

I have that one too. But I removed it. I was missing the spare wheel remover assistant thing, bought one and eBay and basically the handle of the assistant prevent me using that thing.

I went and measured the room between top of my lid and the spare tire and was 1 inch or less. I will see if there is any adjustments somewhere but so far it doesn't look like mine is compatible with the cover.

It would really be helpful if there were model/model year/build date info. Some items like what's being discussed may or may not be available based on time of production or how the vehicle is optioned...and when one says they have it...but there's no model/model year info or explanation of options or other pertinent info (full size spare or compact spare...EHC I or ECH II self leveling suspension or regular suspension etc??)...it leaves a big question mark in the thread (now) and in the future if someone found it while searching.
The part database indicates that the cover #17 comes when optioned with S926a spare wheel (which is the full size spare). So...the members that have the cover...what spare do you have...and what model/model year do you have or do you or don't you have self leveling suspension? If one does not have any model/model year/build date info in a signature or listed...please help the forum by adding the info or updating the thread so that it is clear as to which model/model year had the part in question. :) http://ills.bmwfans.info/2rwr.png |

Interesting decorative part cover, but other than once a year when I check my spare tire pressure, or every 6 years when I install a new batt, I/no one 'looks' under there...;)
A $340 part/mod that I am not sure of the reason for... :dunno: |

The middle cover shown in the pic, I believe has the shape that allows the handle of spare tire assist to fit. So right now, mine is out of the vehicle due to that. I bought the spare removal kit, mainly for the woman. She's got short arms as is, although I seriously doubt she'll ever change a wheel herself.
