So if that settles the interior construction of the diamond key, I agree, based on my understanding, upallnight's suggestion for testing using the bad key with a good key held next to it would be good confirmation of the EWS chip failure. And then AndrewWynn's suggestion of reflowing solder makes sense. Those are the steps I'd take.

If you *have a working key* then there is no reason not to reflow.

100% of my keys needed reflow to function but wife's keys same vintage still are both working (though my copy the logo fell off)
