Ignition Problem Key is out but car remains in accessor mode, dead battery in mornin
 

Hi All,
My 02 X5 4.4 is having 2 issues. Most importantly is the ignition? Starts fine, runs fine. When I turn it off and take the key out, it stays in sort of an accessory mode. radio works dash lights stay on message center lights stay on..ALL NIGHT LONG. Any ideas?

2nd issue. every so often it seems like the tranny is blown. Either it slips in D or R. Then it runs perfect for a month..like it will pull a barn down.. then again every so often the tranny doesn't want to work.. Mechanic says buy a tranny. I think it's some electronic issue..:dunno:

That will be UP ALL NIGHT.

You need a new ignition switch. Plenty of youtube video on how to replace it.

Would I be right to assume you drive a 3.0?
