does this look like a bad install ? tightening it while not under load.. the control arm looks new and the balljoint is in good shape.

yeah it shouldnt be that loose I think? I forget if they have a heim joint on the inside or is it just rubber.

Hard to tell but that control arm does not look new to me... I'd replace it. How does the ball joint feel? Along with the other side as it will look just like that one.

Ball joint is really stiff that's why I say it's new (or say several months new) Both of the control arms were replaced recently, the passenger is ok but the driver side is busted. I think the bushing died on this one because of the play in the tension arm balljoint on the driver side alongside with not torquing it properly under-load (I suspect). That balljoint is original and I sheared off one of the bolts replacing it out. I also have to pound it (and chisel) out to remove it. New control arm is on the way.

Yeah, it is missing the bolt and nut that secure it to the subframe.

Interesting, when I did mine, one fell out and the other was swinging away like this one. I think somehow the subframe inner flanges moved when over tightened by 1 or 2mm or perhaps the arm had some surface rust attaching it to the subframe.
