What's up with the link of TommyX's post on BF?

Someone please click on the link and tell me if I'm seeing things.
Are they masking off the xoutpost.com from his link?

Yes, it appears that is what they are doing. Unfortunately the only ones they are hurting by doing this are themselves and those that read their forums. It looks like the term "xoutpost.com" is "Personanongratta" at the 'fest :tsk: That's unfortunate, because the main X5World page is, in my biased opinion, the bible when it comes to references on the X5.

I've said it before and I repeat it again. If anyone wants to make references to other sites or forums from this board, feel free to do so. I have no interest or desire in pressuring people to stay or shielding them from other venues. If there's something better out there and we can't match it, go for it ;)

Of course I say that knowing full well that we have the best group of enthusiasts on the 'net

I had thought RF admins were the worst. At least RF admins did not mask out the links or references to xoutpost.com.

Great workaround solution Peter!

I just don't understand the paranoia going on over there. :dunno:

twm67 03-04-2005 03:44 PM

Yeah, I noticed the "redacted text" on a legitimate question I posed the other day. BTW - it didn't include the ".com" either.

They even blanked it in a PM sent to me from one of our esteemed members.

No, pettiness, fear and small penis syndrome run rampant throughout the BMW message board world. Except for here of course, where we are all well endowed!

Jon deleted my attachment in my reply. For those who are curious, this is what was attached in that reply.

What's ironic is that at this time there is nothing but information on that page. Not even a link back into the main site.

Looks like Jon has let loose his uber posting lackeys because he knows this fight is indefensible.

I'm new to BF as of late August but I have left forums before because they did queer crap like that. Infact the entire post is ANSWERING the persons question. What would they rather be done, highlight all text and copy it because you don't want to mention the "other forum". I don't have anything at all against BF, it's the first X board I joined, but this is getting dumb.

From now on, use this: http://www.speeddreams.net/images/x5world.png image then your link...at least people would get the point.

dsheli 03-04-2005 06:16 PM

This is amazing. I was still going to Bimmerfest for other forums but I think it is finally time for a change. Boy has a lot changed since Cj has been gone. Ucrew what you should do is put xoutpost.com in your sig. (Like in the image)
LOL

santiago 03-04-2005 06:36 PM

That's very strange. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I tested it. It's part of the list of dirty words that get asterisked out now.

rangerfan 03-04-2005 07:23 PM

Well, I gave Jon a chance and he failed miserably. What a @#$@#$. My Bimmerfest link has been deleted. I thought about :flame: the place before I left, but decided it wasn't worth the effort.

Looks like Jon deleted NCX5's post.

Not only that NCX5 is BANNED on BF. Check below his avatar.

spydrz 03-04-2005 07:41 PM

He said some strong things, but banning is more than I expected...

UCrewX5 03-04-2005 08:01 PM

Guys, let's let things calm down with this whole situation. A cooling off period will do us all good. There are some hurt feelings over there, and in many respects rightfully so.

Have they done everything right in my book? No. But still, they were good to us for most of our stay there. So let's not focus all of our energy on the negative, but look to the postives that we gained from our time there.

I respectfully ask that you don't attempt to post X5World links or images there. It will only exaserbate the situation, not help it. People will go where they are most comfortable and most welcome. And it won't take anyone having to push the forum for people to find out about it. As they said in Field of Dreams - if you build it they will come. And come they shall.

Let's try to peacefully coexist for now and I think that we will all see that over time that a positive relationship between the two boards will develop and grow.

Thanks!!

My thoughts as a non Refugee and a non Old School BimmerFester:
- Silly stuff from both sides was allowed to escalate for no good reason and this is the cause of the animosity. Remember, I'm an outsider to this so I saw and understood both sides' arguments but saw it get ugly for no reason.
- I think the REPOST smilie is a sadistic toy enjoyed by some Festers.
- The banning of the word "x5world" really, really annoyed me and I'm not an X5er. (I went so far as to open a thread asking for justification. Jon did state that spamming was the reason, very plausible, but some of the other responses were enough for me to decide to take a break from BF. I ask that you don't go looking for this thread as it is just a lot of the same rhetoric and you Refugees are likely to get into the same arguments for no reason.)

dsheli 03-04-2005 09:12 PM

Ya, I mean anyone who has an X5 and has found this site probably has also found X_5World.com. This is only going to piss people off.

Fair enough. But I venture to guess that, in time, they will need us a lot more than the other way around.

I for one am done over there.

UCrewX5 03-05-2005 03:19 PM

In case you missed the ending to this, Jon has lifted his ban on the use of the term "X5World". A positive step towards the normalization of relationships.

I request that if you do post anything on bimmerfest that contains X5World, do so only with a link to a "library" page of relevent information to the topic at hand in the spirit of helping someone out with a question or a DIY article. Do not link to the X5World forum itself.

Thanks!!
