n62 drivers side upper timing cover

Help,
Replacing timing cover gaskets. I can’t acces the lower right bolt for driver side upper cover . It appears blocked by alternator.

If I recall accurately, I had to loosen the alternator bolts and slide out alternator just a little bit to access that timing cover bolt. You don't need to remove the alternator completely. The alternator bolts are reuseable as they're not self-locking.

Thanks,
Moving the alternator a 1/2” worked by the last bolt was blind.Timing cover with new gasket installed .
New problem getting alternator bolts reinstalled. The long lower bolt will not find its home on a threaded bracket you can’t see and this bolt is 3+” long.
Any tips other the wiggle around until you get luckily?

You have to loosen the alternator bolts.

Have a leak at the top left of my drivers side upper timing cover. Guess this is in my near future.

Any tips on the process? Did you find a DIY guide online? What else did you replace while you where in there? Just timing gasket (you didn't have to remove and replace valve cover, correct)?

Greatly appreciate any input you might have!
