Door lock question

Hello this is my first post here.

01 3.0i

I have searched and read through a ton of information but some contradict each other.

On the door locks: my passenger doors don't lock/unlock by any method outside of door handle. Fuses test good. That just leaves actuators correct? Possibly bad wires somewhere. I just don't want to pull off the door cards if I can check other things first. These don't need any adjustment?

It can be wiring to the actuator but you have to take the door apart to test either way.

Actuators can be rebuilt for about $12. They are riveted together so it is avout 7.5/10 difficulty but saves $100ish

Perfect thank you. that is my next step. I just have never been of fan of working on doors so if I could avoid getting in there I would. It really doesn't seem too bad though. Thank you for the reply.

I've opened up about 4-5 front doors and now have to fix my rear door handle carrier so I'll be doing another soon .

The important tips from my experience:

1) as opposed to all cars I've worked on the top edge does not "hook onto" the frame, if pulls directly sideways towards the car's midline.

2) cut through the vapor barrier glue with a razor knife it will "heal" back together almost good as new.

3) I don't disconnect the airbag so i have no chance of needing to reprogram (through with my new scanner I could): I flip the airbag backwards and use a screw to hold it fast to the door but out of the way. (One edge barely on the door, most of the airbag out past the back edge of the door)

Good tips. Thank you again for the help

The actuator can be rebuilt? Is there a rebuild kit you can buy for this? I am was to pay 150.00 for a front door actuator but would prefer to just rebuild it if that is possible.

Not a kit but there is a detailed thread on xoutpost showing how to do it. Search you should find it

Thanks for finding that I need to do the procedure on 2-3 of wife's locks. Coincidence that 3 of hers are broken and zero of mine while she has auto-locking? Maybe not.
