2006 E53 X5 Windshield washer no power to pumps
 

Hello,

My windshield washers stopped working. Upon diagnosing I'm not getting any power to any of the 3 washer pumps, even with the car turned on. I found the fuse under the glove box which was good. Upon searching this board I found a thread that talked about a relay in the e-box K11 or RY-772 and one person said both wipers and windshield washers were dead, upon replacing he was ok. Now, my wipers work fine, it's just the washer pumps have no power. Unless this relay has separate contacts for wiper motors and windshield washer pumps, any other ideas? I can't seem to find a wiring diagram. I will probably just replace the relay and hope for the best, but if anyone knows what else to check would be appreciated.

Looks like the three pump motors are driven directly from the A1 general module.

Thanks it's the 3.0 ... thanks for the link! Hard to tell from the diagram it looks like K11 drives all power to pumps and wipers.

Relay K-11 doesn't appear to directly carry power to the pump motors but may affect how the general module (A1) gets power to the pump motors.

The general module (A1) gets power from at least four fuses - F14, F27, F41 and F60, with F14 and F41 being the fuses connected to the washer functions: -

Thanks, the first diagram is clear the 2nd i cant see how you can tell those fuses are connected to the pump motors.

I can't see any common voltage source or ground that would cause all the pump motors to fail at the same time. The only common item is module A1 and obviously any device that either controls power to the A1 module (like relays) or causes the A1 module to do something (like a stalk switch telling the A1 module to turn on a pump motor).

To track this fault down you may need to start looking at inputs and outputs from the A1 module, to eliminate both the module and any control systems.

To loop back to the beginning, you stated the fuse under the glove box was god. Which fuse did you check? F14 or F41? Or both?

And one other question that might help locate the issue... does the rear wiper work - at least the wiper?

This diagram shows the wiper stalk switch. Pins 4 & 10 on X295 are the washer signals and pins 3 & 8 are for the rear wiper/washer. As you can see, they are seperate within the stalk switch...

If the rear wiper works but the rear washer doesn't, it's a good bet that something is funky in the A1 module. More information will help us pin it down to exactly what though, as these modules seldom simply fail (unless they get wet - which would give you worse issues than just no washer pumps!).

I have this issue. Rear wiper works but washer doesn't. New pump, that's not the issue. Have found some info here that says the problem is a chip on the rear wiper motor circuit board. I haven't replaced it yet, so can't confirm. I'd love for it to be something cheaper.
