andrewwynn, appreciate the detailed explanation and pictures. Excellent contributions to the forum. About my plans, i have decided to just splice instead of doing the whole line since time is a constraints. I need the car for work and can't afford to have the X5 down for a long time. Anyway, I bought the following and also the flare tools. Appreciate all the help you have been providing so far.

You need 3 copies of the 10mm union "intermediate piece". Definitely splice I'd have done the same knowing what I know now.

Do some sample bends to learn where the pipe doesn't bend. I'll try to take a picture how to line up the tool to make a perfect match. Since the radius will be different..

I can't tell if that has 3/16 size but some of the bends are tighter radius than possible with the tubing bender.

I just picked up some flare crow foot sockets ironically SAE since I need 11mm and 16mm and the metric size had neither.

I don't think I've ever seen the first bending tool at Harbor Freight before.
Definitely will keep my eye out when I'm there again.

100% agree with you on the Copper Nickel line, far superior to steel.

So some FYI: the factory fittings are all 7/16 nut. The normal 10mm nuts are 11mm nut. The 12mm normal nut is 12mm. The factory unions both 12 and 10mm are 5/8" which would be 16mm coincidentally.

I bought both SAE and Metric crowfoot sockets today

I used a set of spring bending cover to bend brake line tubing. I find it a lot easier to bend the tubing into the correct shape with just your hands. Also, you can bend the tubing into a tighter bend compare with most other tools out there.
