e53 tailgate lights reconditioning

has anyone reconditioned the exterior part of the tailgate lights
with the 3m system or other mfg. Mine are terribly hazy comparied
to the brake lights

Yes, I polished mine with paraffin oil. It is not perfect but better than it was!

Yep - just did mine last week.

First pass was a polish with Meguiar's Plastic-X and then the second pass was an application of Meguiar's Headlight Protectant.

I used some masking tape around the edges so as to avoid any paint damage.

since each side is held in place by 3 bolts I will probably just
remove them totally.

I used the 3M™ Headlight Lens Restoration System, 39008
on my headlights a couple of years ago and they still look good.
