She's gone...

My beloved 2003 E53 has been officially totaled by my insurance company. She met her demise late Saturday night when a Cadillac SRX hit her in the right rear fender and pushed her into a concrete barrier at about 30 miles an hour, damaging the right front fender, suspension, and drivetrain. My youngest daughter was thankfully not hurt, except that she's just as sad as I am to lose such a wonderful car.

That car taught me everything I know about BMW's, knowledge I have shared here as often as possible, and that I have passed on to my son. She also taught me not to fear turning a wrench, to have confidence that even if I break something in the process, I can fix it. The help I've gotten from this fine community on Xoutpost is immeasurable, and I have no intention of leaving. I intend to still contribute here when I can. I won't ever leave this fellowship. I'm still driving an X, though this one won't ever need my hands, since she's a company car.

If you're here to get help to work on your X, have faith that this community can and will help you, and we'll all benefit. Best of luck to you all.

Glad everything is ok with the family first and foremost! Secondly, what company provides an X5 for a company vehicle? LOL

Thanks very much for the well wishes!

My company car is an X4 (G02), because I work where we build them, Plant Spartanburg. I know, if a shame, but somebody's gotta put miles on these things...
