New whip - 2006 3.0i
2 Attachment(s)
Some of you know the trouble we're having with our old X5. Here's its replacement. 2006 3.0i with 154,000km. This one has more options than the old one, including running boards, headlight washers and PDC. Another bonus is it has a Dynavin N7 in place of the OE stare-e-oh.
I have to put a replacement schnozzle on the left high beam washer and the PDC is making an odd noise when engaging, and doesn't seem to be functioning. Not sure the issue, but not a deal breaker. Aside from those minor flaws, this one drives like new and is smooth and powerful. It got the Biesan VANOS o-rings a while back too. I'll keep working on the old one as it will likely become a 'first car' for my son. He says he doesn't want it as it's a 'mom mobile'. Poor boy - a BMW for his first car. Boo hoo. |

"mom-mobile" LMAO Tell the lad that would be a minivan... :stickpoke |
Yeah, if he doesn't want it, I know a '99 Caravan for sale cheap.

I move from a '90s Previa to the X5... the X5 is NOT a "mom mobile".

Entitlement, plain and simple. A few of his HS friends got brand new cars, some of them BMWs and Mercedes. One kid wasn't happy with the colour, so dad traded it in for one with a different colour. My first car cost $75 in 1982 - a 1969 Ford Cortina GT. I would have killed for a BMW.

Mine was a $600 1969 VW Bug. Also took me nearly 30 years to get an X5.

Oh, back on topic - the 2006 looks really nice. I just love that colour (#472 - Sterling Grau Metallic). Biased, I know, but it just works so well with the styling of the E53. Classy...

Just got a Sterling Grau and I love it as well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
The colour is tops for me, especially coming from a black one. I don't think I ever want to own a black car again.
