Alarm goes off on the hot sun
Searching tells me this is a problem with the switch that tells the alarm if the hood is opened? It's quite reliable... Sitting in hot sun on 90+ degree days will set the darn alarm off several times per day.
Can I really just replace the simple switch and the problem will go away? Did I just win the German Engineering lottery? |

I agree with Propellerhead just disconnect it.
And thank god you aren't over here where a "cold" day is 88f. Today's temp- 119f/97f God I hate being stationed on the surface of the sun:rofl: |
Ditto, disconnect it first...you never know...it may not be the cause of the false alarm. If you unplug it first, and the alarm still goes off...then you'll know to look elsewhere for the issue. :)

Awesome you guys rock! Thanks!
And 119F... Dear God man :0 |
That's not too bad as the highest I've experienced here was 133f. Cardboard window shades turn blackish within a week.

I designed a small pilot plant that was built in Masdar City a few years ago. They wanted me to go start it up in August. I'm glad it didn't work out. Would have been a fun story to tell I'm sure.

So true...
The humidity showing is 20% because wife watered the rose sticks. LoL I tried to put the thermometer in the sun once before & that's when I had to get a new one since all the red "fell out"... Sent from my SM-A730F using Tapatalk |
Alright fellas, I unplugged the connector on the hood switch. I'll leave it locked in the hot sun today to make sure it doesn't set off the alarm anymore.
But now when I lock the car, it doesn't beep. It still locks the doors though, and double-beeps when I unlock it. Is that just the car telling me that the alarm can't function right because the hood switch is disconnected? Thanks again! |

But a monitor not working properly (which would need to be plugged in and communicating) could affect the DWA alerts. The next time you lock the vehicle...look at the DWA status LED sensor (the clown nose below the interior rear view mirror) and see how it reacts. If it is flashing rapidly for the 1st 10 seconds, then slows down...there's an issue with one of the monitors (doors/trunk/hood/interior/tilt). Since you've unplugged the hood sensor...it has been removed from the equation. |
Yup, it flashes quickly for ten seconds, then flashes normally after I lock it. It just doesn't beep once like it used to. Thanks for posting the pertinent parts of the manual.
I had to replace the battery just a couple of months ago because I wasn't using it much and the alarm kept going off several times per day in the hot sunny weather. I didn't know if it was a bad battery or a drain issue and didn't have time to troubleshoot, so I just replaced it. |
