NO DSC Signal at Transfer Case

Hi guys,
is a broken transfer case motor gear a cause for 'No DSC Signal at Transfer Case' code?

Thanks

I think there is an rpm sensor on the transfer case similar to wheel ABS sensor. I've not worked on one so not positive.

I have received that code a number of times. Generally after disconnecting the battery. It will throw that code along with a number of others. I clear them with my scanner and they don't come back until I have to disconnect the battery for some reason.

Mine comes back, so I'm going with the idea that there really is no signal or an interrupted/non-usable one.

If intermittent it can be a damaged wire but more likely a weak sensor. If it's like abs sensor that's my bet. If just binary sensor it can be the yes/no switch related to the gear you mention. Do you have 4wd?

Here's some detailed info. on xDrive operation - there's no mention of a sensor on the transfer case in this document or the diagrams that it links to.

There's only eight wires to/from the transfer case, all running to the VTG. Six are for the servo motor and two are for the classification resistor.

Yes.

Yesterday I opened up the transfer case motor to see how the gear looked. It was fine, no wear.
