Here's a web portal to various BMW Nav websites:

Btw, the mk2 is 16:9 compatible. You would be able to use it. The biggest advantage the MK4 has over the MK2, is that one dvd contains the entire map of america on it, whereas with the MK2, there are regional cd's, not dvd's. (For example, I've got the mk2, and a cd for new england and the mid-atlantic which covers nj, ny, pa, ct, delaware, md, washington, and maybe a few other places)

And as I asked before, If I do install the MKII can I later take it out and just plug and play MKIII or MKIV?

Here is some useful information on the differences between MK1,2 and 3 nav systems.

You will see on pg54 that the Mk2 sat nav has an external GPS receiver (I assume you have this?), the MK3 (and 4) have it built into the nav drive.

I would go for the Mk3 drive if you can't afford the Mk4, there appear to be plenty around on Ebay.
