2006 - E53 - 4.8is Load Cover?

Folks

I just bought a load cover for my car from eBay. This is the “concertina” style with several spars with gear teeth either end. It does not fit my car as I have no runners to locate the cross spars/gears.

Can somebody point me at the type I require please as I believe there must be a facelifte one for my car, which is a 2006 model.

Many thanks

Bruce.

Bruce. Arggh. Costly option either way. You either got to get new load cover that firs ur moel or retrofit the current area where it mounts to the PRE model. Sorry. No good answer

Before buying parts I always run them through one of the several online BMW parts database to make sure that I get the correct part. In every BMW model I've owned...lots of parts change during the production range.

This happens to be one of them for the e53. The early e53 X5s used the type that you purchased (item #2 in diagram below)...and if you use the part database...you'll see not only the part nbr but the production date range that uses each type that was offered. If your production date is AFTER 8/2003...then you need item #15 in the diagram.

Here's 3 of my favorite online part databases below...select one and then enter the last 7 digits of your VIN (or select the correct buttons that will identify your model/model year/build date/etc) and then go to the VEHICLE TRIM diagrams to find the part nbr you need:

Feel free to save all three to your bookmarks/favorites for future reference

Gents

Thank you for the replies. This is proving to be an expensive bit of kit. Through my own silly fault I made an assumption that the covers were all the same fit = WRONG.

I don’t want to try retrofitting / downgrading the interior, so its back to eBay to try and get a decent facelift one and list the pre-facelift one I just bought.

Thank you again for the help.

Bruce, When I bought my X5 it was also missing the cargo cover. I got one from a breaker's yard. It's not perfect as one side retracts more than the other, but it gets the job done.

Oh Bruce! I got mine from a fellow Xoutposter for $150. My X came without one, and I immediately put up a want to buy post on the classified thread. Someone responded within 2 months IIRC.
I suggest you do the same and you use classifieds to try to sell yours as well. That’s of course if you are not in a hurry

Many thanks again for the helpful replies. I bought one from eBay in the correct colour and described as being in excellent condition. It should be with me this week (fingers crossed)

It cost £110 here in the UK, and is listed as being from a “facelift e53 2005”. So we should be all good now.

Strange that so many of these are removed from the car? I was also missing the “dog guard/ net”. I managed to get one at a good price in very good condition.

Hey ho. Thanks again for the help.

Mine was missing the cargo net also (it was listed in the options when I decoded the VIN) so I got one from a local auction site too - NZ$100.

Yep, odd that they go missing from cars, although I got mine from a chap that had an E53, "upgraded" to an E70 then found the E53 cargo net in his garage a couple of year later.

My win...
