Given that there are only the two large hoses and the intercooler between the turbo outlet and the EGR inlet, this section is easy(ish) to check. After the EGR is the inlet manifold - harder to check.

A few PSI isn't enough to spin the turbo. Forgot we're dealing with a diesel here though.

Just did this very test on my A4 to diagnose a leaking wastegate.

Jeez, thats a lot of work on an old motor where things are going to break snap etc. So I have come up with a plan for the weekend if I have time and weather permits: Will block off the turbo end of the rubber hose to the the turbo end of the intercooler feed, pull off the hose to the EGR delete and make a simple adaptor to allow me to charge the intake pipes and intercooler up with some compressed air monitoring the pressure and see if it holds out, hopefully as I get over 1 bar ish whatever is giving out when I am driving will become apparent. I will let you know and take some pics too.
