2004 X5 3.0 central lock hell!
 

Hi all,
Very new here, so hi to all.
Yesterday a CAA came out and broke in to my X5 for us. The usual! My Key fob battery hasn’t worked since I purchased this X5 about a week ago. VL2020 battery is on order... anyways, it’s cold up here, -15 at the moment & the door lock wouldn’t let me in the other night. Frozen I think, I forced it a little too much and now it just spins! The CAA guy broke in using an inflatable bag opening the passenger door a little & pushed the central locking button with a rod and the passenger door luckily opened! But all the other locks stayed locked. I opened the passenger door, stopped the alarm by putting the key in the igntition & opened the drivers door manually from the inside. Now, the central locking button will not work at all... I can’t lock the car. I’m waiting for the key fob battery to arrive! Which could be a month & for now, I’ve taken all valuables out the car! I’ve had to pull the green cord in the trunk by climbing over the seats, to release the gas filler cap - because the rear tailgate - rear doors will not open... since then - discovered the tailgate release button DOES still work.
I’m checking the fuses & they seem fine. I’m also heating the car up by leaving the heating on and engine running to try and see if I can thaw it all out... does anyone have any suggestions???
I have looked and can’t seem to find this sequence of errors on the forum - but apologies in advance if it is here. Currently I have the drivers door left open all 3 other doors unable to unlock. Even with handle from the inside.

Can I reset the central locking somehow? Oh and I’ll need to replace the drivers side door cylinder, get a new key too! Oh joy to the costs of those!

I’d really appreciate any help all. Thank you in advance.

If the doors won't open from the inside handles, then it could be the door lock actuators.


If it is electrical, for example the fob not working or the inside button not working or only working for some doors and not the others, it could be the GM (General Module). E46s have similar problems with the GM5 where the solder on the main board deteriorates causing all sorts of central locking issues. I don't recall reading anyone experiencing issues with their GM on this board however...

Is "double locking" a thing on these trucks? If so, that could be why you are having issues. Especially now that the driver's door lock cylinder is busted.
