OT: German Batteries
 

Off topic...as LEAD is heavy and that is generally why most batteries are USA made (well, I know some are Saudi and such).

Anyhow, for the Wiki, The H8 AGM from Autozone - is coming out from the Johnson plant in Germany. Sticker says made in germany. Eh, slight brownie points I suppose. I still would choose a East Penn though

Just don't be the idiot like me. I was collecting German tools at one point in my life. Before the days of Amazon existence.
Ordered a bunch of Hazet tools.
Was doing a happy dance when my order came in :dance:

Then no so happy when I got a fat customs bill

Years ago I used to get Stahlwille tools too. :cool:

Just an FYI...was bound to happen if you follow the connections:

• BMW for decades used VARTA batteries
• VARTA was owned by the Quandt family (acquired sometime right after WWI)
• The Quandt family have the majority of personal shares of BMW ( I think like 46%)

• Johnson Controls acquired VARTA back around the early 2000s to increase their presence in the European market

And if you don't know the Quandt family's history...it is very interesting in how they came to be the billionaires that they are and came out (pretty much unscathed) by their place in Germany's history...especially during the time of Hitler and the Nazi party.
