I remember when folks were saying that in 1999 and waxing on the e28/e30 etc. [emoji23][emoji23]

Oh those E28s and E30's are bullet proof. My first BMW was a 1985 635 Euro (E24) and it to was straight up bulletproof.

yes, e28s were bulletproof EXCEPT for:

oil pan gasket
weeping head gasket
valve cover blind plugs
differential gasket
timing belt
power steering reservoir hose leaks

incidentally, the PS reservoir on my e28 was the EXACT SAME PART NUMBER as on my 2005 X5. 20 years of leaky love! if that car would've had an OFHG, it certainly would have leaked prematurely too!

but that e28 was my first love. my first BMW.

I think every BMW of this generation we’re all hits. E38,E39,E53,E46 were/are all great. You just don’t find that level of consistency in today’s newer BMWs. When the day comes that I decide to replace my 4.6is it’s gonna be hard to find an acceptable suitor. I have an E39 M5 with 96K and plan to keep it as long as I can. My X5 has 126k and it’s a great driving vehicle. I regret selling my E39 540i wagon because it was bulletproof even at 205K miles. You just don’t find that kind of longevity in today’s BMWs.

Thanks! Looking forward to cleaning it up and seeing what all she needs.

Most of all, I just want to hear that V2 SC whistle & whine.
