E53 DISA valve seal not replaceable??
 

I have a vacuum leak coming from my DISA valve where it meets the intake manifold. I assumed I could just replace an O ring seal where it seats, but realoem/parts catalogs don't show the seal as replaceable. What is confusing to me is that if you check the parts listing for an E46 or E39 with an M54 engine, the DISA valve has a replaceable O ring with its own part number... To further confuse me, if I look at aftermarket DISA valve options, they show compatibility with E53, E46, and E39. What gives??? Can someone clarify this for me?

The DISA o-ring is formed in place in this case. You can get an aftermarket replacement from some suppliers or E-Bay but you will need to pick out the old material from yours.

Yup, already picked out the old seal. All clean and ready to go. Just wanted to make sure I could still use a replacement o-ring successfully. Seems crazy to spend $300 instead of $3 on an entire DISA assembly. :)

A square cut o-ring will be a better choice.

Search for German Auto Solutions kit.
Make sure they include the O-ring.
O-ring is available on ebay.

I just ended up ordering an o-ring off of eBay and had it overnighted. We will see how it seals!

I ordered a german auto solutions rebuild kit. I've used the same kit in the past on my e46. Assuming this will also fit my X5..

GAS fits all E46 inline 6 motors. But heres one better. I used a RTV high temp seal on my recent leak Disa and it worked flawlessly. When n if it finally starts to fail, I 'll replace the entire DISA unit. More plastic junk from UDM.

The G.A.S. kit does include the O-ring.

If you have the X3, make sure you buy the correct version for 2.5 vs 3.0 engine.

And...The G.A.S. kit ONLY works for factory DISA Valve.
It does not work for aftermarket valves.
