A couple of new mods. :)

Hey gang, just want to share my two new mods. The first is the brand new Clarion backup camera installed at the hitch area. The picture quality just blew me away and I really like the lower perspective it gives me.

And last but not least my new "visor" mod...courtesy of Michelle.
(I just want to beat SupahGreg to this mod.  ) So what cha think of it?

Nice job

NOC 02-06-2006 04:34 PM

was the camera hard to install?
It looks very good, esp. w/ the PDC.
How is that radio unit? I was thinking of putting the OEM screen but now I am leaning more towards one of the like.
Ride looks great.

SuperGreg 02-06-2006 05:55 PM

Oh my hell, that's hilarious   Hey, you need to do the gauge rings now too.

Looks good. That picture resolution seems to look better than oem kit!
I got a back up camera also to install (Got it off Ebay )but cant do it yet because I missing a wire connection. My camera has one yellow RCA cable(video) which I will connect to Camera input RCA on TVonNav AV Harness and another RED RCA cable that has the 12V and ground connection built in.I need to get a cable for this to give me 2 separate wires to connect to cars harness!
How did you connect yours?I had a look at KINGS article but I am bit confused or the article is correct? He uses a relay but leaves out terminal 85!
:(

Question about Part numbers for X5 Reverse Camera

Hi All,
have just joined X5world and am absolutely blown away with all the mods and ideas that you guys come up with. Am very interested in this backup/reverse camera. Would any of you be able to tell me what the part numbers are for the complete kit. Also how much does it cost you in the US. Also where did you buy the CLARION kit from. I'm travelling to Arizona in about a week, and would try to buy a kit if I could find an outlet near Sedona.
Thanks a million. Look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards, Pat.:)

Pat I'm glad you like some of our mods and welcome to X5World. The reverse camera is Clarion CK525E and it can purchased at any Clarion dealers. I have tried a few and hands down it's the best. Picture resolution is amazing. You can also get them at on-line stores or Ebay. I'm sure you can find it in the Pheonix area. Give Greg a shout if you need any help. ;)

Clarion.

Btw, did you like the visor mod also? :) The original creator of this mod is Michelle, our resident mod-meister.

Verbalkint 02-06-2006 09:25 PM

Diggin' the rear cam.

I like the lower perspective, too. Did you think about mounting the camera in the Roundel, but decided on the hitch area because of the view?

No offense: Not feelin' the visor deal... :sorry: :) But, I highly recommend the chrome gauge rings.

LeMansX5 02-06-2006 10:48 PM

Me likey the camera mod. wonder how it will work with OEM nav. ROFL on the visor mod.

gregwx5 02-06-2006 10:53 PM

Initially I had the camera mounted on the license plate frame but it didn't look stealth enough for me. Mounting in the Roundel did cross my mind but I was afraid it would be too high. Then I tried the hitch area and bingo!

Ken, not feeling the visor either.....threw it in there to make fun of Michelle. :p

Where that camera is mounted, Phong can look up skirts and see all the thong-tha-thong-thong-thong that walks behind the X!

JV

Michelle 02-07-2006 01:51 PM

I'll have to remember to pass by his X a few times at the DC Meet, then!

Thanks for your support

Hi All,
many thanks for your support and very quick responses.:) I'm v v grateful. Am already surfing ebay etc for Clarion Camera. Just realised that I'll have to go the roundel type of install, as I'll be putting on a towbar as well so it would end up bang in the middle and behind the towbar. Will have to see what I can manage. I noticed that there is also a source unit or something thats needed. Is that what is needed to trigger the monitor to display the rear view picture?. Dont suppose anyone has 'destructions' for installing this stuff. I'm more mechanically minded than electronic. If I cant fix it, I'll leave it so noone else can.......

As for the sun visor mod, I luv it. Though I better not get into any bad habits like hanging thongs from the rv mirror. Might raise and eyebrow or two with that!!!!!!:wow:And I suspect my beer buddies :beerchug:will disown me.
