iCarly is going back...

I'm not impressed with iCarly and what it can and can't do for my E53. All it really accomplished was changing the locks and windows. Couldn't change the lights to what I wanted (fogs on with HB's). Checked with thier customer service and after investigation they told me it was BMW's fault. They didn't finish the coding when the car was built...(:bsflag:). Thier advertising told me that was on of the capabilities. Anyway, Amazon will take it back. Incidentally, when I went to return it I found Amazon is "Investigating" this product because of customer complaints... Hmmmm.
I now have other software and a old XP laptop on the way. I'll get this straightened out eventually!

Yeah Carly is best used on 2007+ vehicles. Not a lot it can do for e53, e46, e39, or anything older. I did use it to code off cold monitoring though to switch all my lighting to led. Worked for that and reading codes.

I wanted for the ability to code for locks and flashers for led use (couldn't switch front flashers because apparently LCM uses some funny business to do the running lights. Auto locking has taken out all four of wife's door actuators so I'd kinda like to disable that feature

You guys really need to set yourselves up with laptop and BMW dedicated software. There is no easy answer to get it doing everything you want and will take some patience, but will be worth it.

^I agree. Best way to go. I need to buy a WinXP laptop. My last go on Win 7 was unsuccessful.

On a separate note I was finally able to make BMW Scanner 1.4.0 work last night. Allowed me to raise both front air struts that had been down last three weeks. Tonight will go back and study all the coding options available.

I struggled with Win8 and Win10 for weeks before accepting defeat and just bought an XP machine. Guys have done it but it just kicked my @SS. I found a nice little Pansonic Toughbook on fleaBay for $75 and run BMW Tools and BMW Scanner 1.4. A little slow to today's standards but works perfectly.

Here is a little thread from E46F that explains a lot of the basics. I found it useful when I first started using it.

@ crystalworks If you go with a package that runs everything in virtual machines Windows 7 actually works better.

I took your advice, friday a toughbook will arrive at my door in a big brown truck. I'm looking forward to customizing my X the way I want it.
