mine was leaking oil from the o-ring, As you can see at the beginning of the video, I point this out. |
Ah. Ok thanks.

Some people tend to remove them on the e46 m3 (different set-up though) and not quite understood why. I think they help with emissions on cold start up?

Guys, this vacuum pump on the N62 engine is for the vacuum assisted brake booster! If disconnected, the vehicle will lack brake boosting and you risk damage to the engine gaskets/seals! DO NOT disconnect it when running the engine!

Gee did anyone even read the post on what the function of this part is? To provided a negative pressure to the brake power booster (A Vacuum). It is NOT the air pump (positive pressure) to the exhaust system. Yep, they are both are on the right side of the engine compartment but are not related by type or system.
Emission reductions.....!@%+#!! |
I didn’t know there was one - doesn’t appear in this thread... thanks for the info on it though.

Correct!:iagree:
I was trying but obviously failing, to point out that air pumps and brake pumps are two different items . In 4.4 and 3.0 applications they do not even have a cam driven brake booster pump..... |
