Just an FYI (despite the plethora of info on the "net" that says otherwise)...the anti-theft radios that required a CODE to get them back up and running after electrical power was removed...ended with the e32/e34/e36 generation BMWs.

Starting with the e38, then onto each new model introduction (e39, e46, e53, etc)...the anti-theft radio code was no longer used because BMW went with a multiple component, model specific set-up. Since the parts were only compatible with a single model and wouldn't fit or fit inappropriately (like wrong angle of nav screen)...BMW dispensed with the anti-theft "radio' code.

BTW, "radio" code is not to be conflated with the OBC immobilization code that was a feature on BMW e38s/e39s/e53s that had the HIGH MID or NAV set-up. :) The "radio" anti-theft code was a specific 5 digit number that was unique to each radio & this code number was kept in a BMW database. The OBC immobilization code is random and can be any 4 digit number between 0000-9999...and a number of the owners choosing and can be changed to any other random number each time it is used.

Take note of the last paragraph under BUS COMMUNICATION in the info below about BMW NG (new generation) radios:

Got it

Piece of cake. Bought a slick Craftsman torx wrench.
Worked, no reprogramming. Mr Bentley blew that one on two fronts.

Thanks to all
