I was fortunate to inherit my Mom's Special Ordered manual, gray green on black, 3.0 X5. The car has spent it's entire life in Southern California and has a well recorded maintenance history. It has 165k miles on it when I adopted it in Jan 2019.

It's bone stock and I'll be adding some modifications and reporting them in this thread. I'm trying to keep it OEM+, it will be my daily driver and the vehicle for Tahoe snow trips.

First thing I'd look into would be the condition of the front drive shaft splines. Considering the presence of salt in the air, there's more than a reasonable chance that rust has developed on the splines which leads to them stripping. Mine failed at 136,000 miles. Any servicing should include thoroughly packing them with marine grade grease. Great color!

And moving the AC drain/drip line so that it doesn't drip on the front drive shaft.

Got the Avant4 installed awhile ago. I'm still editing the videos of the install. Planning to do a full review as well.
