Realoem search

Is it just me or has the search function of realoem.com been hijacked by a Google search engine?

wpoll 02-04-2019 05:00 AM

Dunno if hijacked is the right word but for sure the thing has recently changed - a big pink top banner, search function changed or missing...

Not just you, Neil...

OMG...when did this happen? I go there multiple times a week...this is the first time seeing this NEW home page layout. Personally, I don't care for this new search feature that pulls up results outside the website's database and appears to be geared more towards ads. If I'm using the site's search feature...I'm looking for help finding something in the parts database...not an online vendor. My vote on this newest change is .... :thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown.

Hopefully my other two parts database sites haven't changed their search feature within the parts database itself:

Yes it has changed, no longer like it as much. I was able to click on the diagram number and it used to highlight the part number on the list below.

Yep, not as flexible as it once was. Hopefully this is a temp "upgrade".

Realoem search

I wrote an email to them as there is no longer a search in real OEM it does a useless Google search not related to the current car. Hasn't helped once since they screwed it up.

more people need to email them that the new site is basically useless. I can Google search myself. The point of real oem is that I can search within a specific car model .

Seems to have been restored now, I have my original search box back. You have some influence where it counts andrewwynn!

Yep, all back to normal it seems. Thank goodness. I was using the other day thinking this is NOT an improvement.

wpoll 02-05-2019 01:14 AM

Seems to be ok on some web browsers and still broken (or hijacked) on others...

andrewwynn 02-05-2019 01:22 AM

They responded with the date they did a server change and it was right between the last time it worked and didn't

Search now works on my iPhone so whew!

Yes, you are right, it still doesn't look 'normal' and has a large vertical zone on the right hand side, but at least when I drill in using my VIN I can select browse parts and continue with a search option in the other larger zone. :dunno:

andrewwynn 02-05-2019 02:28 AM

There are some big gaps I'm presuming are ad zones that dont display for me.

Qsilver7 02-05-2019 09:48 AM

Again...if realoem is not working for you like you need...there are other online sites that offer the same info and search functions that realoem originally had. I saved and have used all 3 of them when there's an issue with a site (like this latest realoem "downgrade" :( ).

I'll post them again (I originally posted them in post #3):

  1. BMW Parts Catalog
  2. www.etk.cc (looks like this site is about to go though a change...they've indicated they are about to change their domain to https://bimmercat.com/ in about 1 week)

andrewwynn 02-06-2019 02:07 PM

Thanks for the other site references I'll bookmark them.
