Key Seat Memory
 

Whenever I use the key to unlock the car (double click unlock) the driver seat changes to the previous owner's setting (my lovely mother). My settings are saved to all the memory slots (1,2,3)

Does anyone know how to fix this? I couldn't find anything in the owner's manual.

You need to lock and unlock the door with the physical key. I'm betting she used the key not the remote to lock and unlock. Apparently the comfort settings not only remember which key they also remember if the actual key was used in the lock.

I've many times had to set my seat back to my saved position and so that I won't forget to fix it I will open my window and take the key and reach outside and lock and unlock the car.

Ditto andrewwynn. When a key/car memory has been set/stored...the GM saves the seat setting in another memory so that if someone else uses the car...it will return to the key #s original setting.


You're going to have to find a way for the key you're using to remember YOUR setting and not your mother. You can see it mentioned in the DRIVER'S SEAT MEMORY (car memory influence) info below. As already mentioned...you're going to have to teach the key that YOUR settings are the ones that need to be remembered and stored which may require a specific locking/not locking "dance" to get the GM to think that your memory setting has priority and is the one to be saved.

Which key is used is "key". But like I said you can get the behavior desired by locking the door with the key not the remote. It basically makes "position 4" match whatever position you last used. It can be coincidentally the same as your fav position e g. Set to 1 first then do the lock dance and position 4 and 1 will be the same and the seat won't move when you unlock the door.

I answer that question about 3x a year on xoutpost.

Each key is different also so if you want to make sure the seat doesn't wander around on you, repeat with each key.

The last guy that had this problem set his seat maximum forward or backwards so had to change it quite a lot each time.
