'02 brake and suspension sensor Q's

Hello everyone. My wife surprised me with an '02 X5 3.0L last week and today was the first dry day I could go over it. I found that only the LF and RR wheels have brake wear sensors, is this correct? Sorry for my ignorance my only experience with wear sensors have been with them on all four corners. Second I noticed that there is what appear to be ride height sensors only on the RF and RR control arms. I don't have air ride suspension, so my guess is that these work with the hill descent control and/or the traction control. Is this a good guess? My AllData hasn't been super helpful with info on this vehicle. Thanks!

Those are the only wear sensors. Do you have adaptive headlights? If so, that's what the ride height sensors are for. Go to RealOEM.com and enter your VIN. It will pull up accurate data for what the car was built with. It's a great resource.

Thanks for the site. Looks like they must be for the headlights, it is equipped with the xenon units. But now I'm wondering if this model had the rear self-leveling option at some point, due to how the RealOEM breakdown lists those sensors. I have not seen a compressor or lines, and I definitely have coils on all four corners. I guess it doesn't matter anymore, as long as I don't get any codes. Thanks again!

The headlights use front and rear sensor to set the aim. Wife's X5 is springs all corners mine is air back axle. She has two sensors I have three. Consider: if you put 1000# in the trunk, the lights would point up in the sky without the sensor in the back

You mean like overloading pretty much any other truck out there ;) Yeah I've been wanting to get that tech in all of my Jeeps and Rovers for decades, but it hasn't been part of the US-spec stuff until recently. Just wasn't expecting it on this vehicle. Normally I have time to put a little research into what we buy, this time I got "I think I want another SUV." on Friday, then Monday this showed up.
