Distilled is definitely no white deposits or any other shit added to water. I don’t see why spending $1.00 to buy a gallon of distilled is something that should float boats. I keep a gallon handy right next to my concentrate bmw blue coolant.

Creating hard deposits inside the cooling system is not ideal. And you can always tell which “mechanic” fills up with tap water. It’s the one that has to use a screwdriver to remove bmw clipped on hoses. Who knows what sort of nonsense happens in the rest of the cooling passages.

Unless saving that dollar is what really floats your boat. Then ok.

Must add some of that demineralised water to my shopping list next time I'm in the US.

There is no need to do anything more than drain the radiator, refill and bled. You can use the BMW coolant and add proper amount of distilled water or almost any major brand will have a 50/50 offering that is OK for an X5.

Looks like we all agree. No need to call any authorities to use distilled water, just a couple bucks.

I'd sure as hell spend a buck on water than try to interact with local water utilities. !ouch:
