N62 cooling pipe o-ring sizes
Hey guys!
So last week I changed out the water pump in the old X5 and at the time I saw all of the o-rings within the cooling pipes and thought " Should I change then out or just get the job done " .... Obviously I made the wrong decision and need to go back and change them. Would anyone happen to know the sizes for the the 4 hoses that connect to the water pump on my N62 for the X5? I am sure this has been covered in the past, but I searched for it and couldn't find it. :dunno: Thanks guys |
Sadly BMW doesn't consider them an individual part so you can't look it up on real oem. Somebody has to extract and measure. I tried to find one locally the only luck I had was with a kit that had a bunch of sizes and then I found an o-ring fit the upper hose.
Hopefully somebody has an engine apart and a digital calipers. |
Ask tmax445 as I think he's still in the stage of angry wife over the mess in the shop stage.

So I dug into it today and it turned out to be the o'ring on the temp sensor that is part of the pass. side pipe that leads to the radiator... I used a #31 o-ring from the local hardware store and I am back up and running with no leaks for under $1 :)

I wrapped mine with Teflon and it's been fine for 15 months or so. I bought a 10-pack of the 8x14x4 o-rings to replace it properly then promptly lost them.
