self induced 4.8is air suspension issue
So, I probably should have left well enough alone... all seemed to be working fine with no fault codes. I decided to have a play with my Foxwell 520 and ran through some of the tests. One of the tests seems to have failed and the tester said “The following is now stored in the fault code memory. Replace Y20 Air Supply System as pressure relief valve is not OK”. Strangely there’s no fault registered in the ECU but all three LEDs in the switch flash when the car is started. Any advice? Is there a way to reset the system?
If it needs fixing I probably broke it... |
I would try a bat disconnect to reset.

Yea. Try clearing the codes no matter what. Also check that you aren’t in transport mode. I did that once while playing with Inpa.

Battery disconnect didn't change anything. At one point yesterday the car was on its bump stops and the diagnostics (Foxwell and Carly) were both saying they couldn't see the control module. I was seeing ££££. Today fired up my old XP laptop with DIS and INPA and used DIS to reset the ride heights and took the car for a short drive and all felt OK. Switch on the dash still did nothing. Had a look at things through INPA and found that user mode was set to off. Set that to on and all seems OK again. Moral of the story to me is to not use the Foxwell for the air suspension - stick to BMW's tools! Perhaps the Foxwell air suspension routine has a few bugs that have not been ironed out due to a relatively small user base? Or perhaps is was a user error?
