PSA: Schwaben/Foxwell NT510 group buy $149
Offer good through 1 May. They need 15 committed buyers. Looks like this is a rebranded Foxwell NT510 loaded with BMW software.
https://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog...STGEN1_pg3.htm I need one to read my E70. |
Why buy the Schwaben Proscan for $149 when you can buy the newer Foxwell NT520 for $159 off ebay? https://www.ebay.com/itm/FOXWELL-NT5...sAAOSwrY9a~kD4
The Schwaben ProScan is the same as the Foxwell NT510. So the Schwaben scan tool I bought is Foxwell NT510 | Foxwell Support Blog I'll bet Pelican Parts/ECS/Turner starts selling the Foxwell NT520 after they blowout the Schwaben Proscan. |

I got my 520 for about 135 after waiting for an ebay promotion. My 520 has been great. No bugs found so far. *knock on wood*
Even if you want to stick to the 510, $149 doesn't sound like a good group buy deal. |
For those that care about details, the correct name of that item in the eBay link above is the Foxwell NT520Pro. They also make an NT520 (not Pro, not 510), which is different. From the photos in the brochure that comes with the product, the non-Pro version has the protruding buttons like the Schwaben one does, vs. the buttons shown in that eBay ad. I don't know what other differences they have, but there are two types.
I got two NT520Pro's off eBay a month or so ago, for $121 each, one for my Porsche, one for this BMW. I could have got a single unit with software for both, but this way, I just leave them in the respective cars, and don't worry about needing it and not having it. Happy with mine. But I have noticed the NT510s are offered for at least as much as the NT520Pro's, and I don't know why - although it could just be inertia from previous pricing. |
Good call oldskewel. I have the NT520 Pro for comparison sake. No experience with the NT520 "base" model.

What a deal $121 and smart to have one for each. The 510 buttons stick I think I might prefer the membrane buttons.

And that $121 deal ... I got it from these guys https://www.ebay.com/itm/132776948991 It's not so good now, but close. When I bought the pair it was $150 each with 5% off when buying two. And then eBay had like a one-day 15% off coupon (they do that every couple of months) which stacked. No tax, free shipping, and it was a great deal. I had been looking for a Foxwell deal for a while, and I couldn't afford not to buy them. LOL That seller, and many other Foxwell sellers on eBay seem to have very tight relationships with Foxwell itself, and could actually be Foxwell, if not a wholly owned subsidiary. |
^I also bought an NT520Pro on Ebay for just under $140. Would buy again. Combined with Carly it's covered 99% of what I've wanted to do. $121 is smoking but I didn't want to wait for the Ebay promotion.

Ive got the 510 I think and it works great. Slow but you get used to it.
I have the bmw and Chrysler software on it now. I also went with the bimmer geeks pro tool for my phone with their blue tooth adapter for my e70. Coded the hatch to close with the remote which was nice. |
