Folding plastic piece at tailgate - what is it called and how to fix it?

I have been doing some search but I can't find the exact name and I get all sort of results...

The plastic folding tray between the tailgate and the body has come undone and there are tons of little springs everywhere. Something must have broke somewhere...

Anyone has a link on how to fix that part? I can't tell exactly what needs to be fixed. Do I need to replace the whole thing with the attachment (as pictured)

thank you

If all the plastic pieces that retain the springs have broken off it's probably time to buy a used unit and replace it. Very easy job to replace. Probably not so easy to try to repair yours though if the plastic has broken.

The part in the example image isn't sprung - its fixed to the inside of the tail gate.

The sprung part is called a "Loading Sill Cover" - BMW# 51478402127 - Part #11 in this diagram...

It may be hard to repair the springs if they are broken...
