Heaving steering when engine is on temptature
 

Hi Guys,

I have problem with my steering once the engine is on temptature. The steering is going very heavy when car is standing still and when i try to park.
Once i accelerate a litte bit the problem is gone.

The strange thing is once the engine is cold the steering is very smooth and easy.

Mine X5 is equipped with the servotronic option, so the steering should go always very smooth and easy. :rolleyes:

I have already changed the power steering fluid.

I hope you guys can help me out.

Did changing the power steering fluid help?

unfortunately not :(

i think it might be the power steering pump, but not sure.

I had this exact symptom recently and couldn't find the cause until it got worse.
Turned out the harmonic balancer (engine pulley) was intermittently spinning in the rubber mounting. Might be worth having a look... (this was on a M57N)
