22" rims / Self Level Suspension Inac error code
 

Need your help please, guys.

Just changed rims to 9.5x22 inch non-staggered Kahn Design model RS-R with 285/35/22 Toyo tires. Prior to rims change (assuming 22 inch would rub and cause problems) went to BMW to temporary increase the rear suspension height.

Self Level Suspension Inac code error showed up on dash.

Installed 22 inch rims and lowered the rear suspension height for aesthetic reasons.

Self Level Suspension Inac code error remains on dash.

Checked the U shape nipple joint (bought aftermarket), all in place - facing the rear and arms pointing towards the wheels.

BMW claims that their computer can only increase suspension parameters to maximum 20 inch rims. Explains why 22 inch generates code errors as it is not "allowed" by the computer.

Tomorrow will swap back 20 inch rims at BMW to determine whether the fault is from the computer system or not.

Frankly, not sure this is the best route to find a cure.

Suggestions and or comments are highly appreciated.

The computer does not care what size wheels are on the truck. Only the angle of the suspension components in relation to the mounting points of the height sensors. Either the suspension needs to be calibrated, or there is something wrong. Did you have any SLS errors prior to doing any wheel changing?

No errors at all prior to changing the wheels.

Modify the height bracket on the height sensor simple as that.

Yea car don’t care what wheels you have. Someone fucked up. You can deff adjust with Inpa to whatever you want.

Check the level sensors. It's not uncommon for the lever arm to flip to the wrong side and feed a nonsense value to the computer.

If the symptom is that you got level inactive right after wheel change than I would bet $ that is your problem. About every 4 months that is posted on xoutpost

@SlickGT1, not sure if authorized BMW workshop allowed to alter computer parameters. Maybe I need help from indie workshop.

@andrewwyn, problem is lever arm level sensors are facing the correct way but computer still showing code error. I will try to get a picture.

Do all the readings make sense?
