BMW Car Report Summary
 

So I went to my local BMW dealer that I purchased my E53 from in 2004 to get a couple things looked at that I couldn't troubleshoot myself and they came back with a full report of additional items. I only decided to repair the control module and evac recharge since those were the items I was questioning to begin with. How crucial is repairing the valve cover reseal and oil filter housing gasket? I have maybe 1 small oil leak atm. I'm going do the DIY coolant flush this weekend with my uncle as well, I believe there are several posts in this forum from members doing it.

Oil Filter Housing Gasket: ofhg, vanos hose and 4 seal rings 729.32

SRS - Airbag Driver Front: drivers airbag and clock spring 1572.17
[Other]: evac and recharge a/c 254.72

The ofhg is traditionally the biggie for oil leak. I think that's what is leaking on my wife's X5. The valve covers are usually more of a seeping leak that makes the engine bay gross without much on the floor.

Ouch indeed.

OFHG and valve cover gasket can be done for less than $100.00 in parts and a day's work (if you've never done them before). Buy a used airbag and clock spring for cheap. The only thing on the list that isn't crazy (IMO) is the brake fluid flush. I use BMW to do my fluid flushes because it beats spending 2 hours in the garage at the pedals (I don't have a pressure bleeder) and the calipers.

I know there's a reason I take it to my friend who's a mechanic or try to troubleshoot problems myself and LOL!


yeah I haven't noticed any oil from my engine bay leaking but I'll be sure to inspect when I get the car back tomorrow and also will post some pics!


I've never done the OFHG but I'm sure there is a DIY in here I can troubleshoot, and yeah I think it's the clock spring that just needs to be replaced in order for my airbag light to go away. I've heard the brake flush can be annoying to do it on your own :/ but I'll keep you all posted and looking forward for my first coolant flush on my car this weekend

Car running great now, only problem I have noticed is when idle there seems to be a minor belt squeak in the engine bay, most likely just some wear and tear that needs to be replaced on a belt, I'll try to get a video of it or something. Next on the to do list is get a brand new set of tires.

If you can hold off a little bit on the tires, I'll be able to give some input after this weekend (if order comes) on Nitto tires although over here I had to give 2 choices NT555 and Invo so even I don't know what shoes will arrive...

Sure thing boss I'm actually waiting until next month since Costco will have a big sale on Michelin ones I've been meaning to purchase. I'm currently running the LTX versions which I had put on in 2015 and lasted really good. They took feedback from these and remodeled them for older suv's.
