I do have an unhealthy affinity for the aero kit. :) Overboost is correct. It uses a linear mile of double sided vhb-style tape. To remove a panel, say one of the fender flares, soak the seam in goo gone for a day. Tape the panels with a couple layers of painters tape, which will require cleaning the aforementioned goo gone from the face of the panel. Then use plastic pry tools to gently pry the panel away from the vehicle.
^ That's how I did it. Good luck, and have your liquid patience of choice at the ready. ;) |
Don't know if it'll help but also use dental floss as a cutter to help separate the double sided tape (use gloves or 2 wood dowels for finger protection)

Edit: Here is an image of how much VHB is used on the rear fender flare portions that run onto the rear doors. And by the way... prepare yourself for finger pain. The hardest part is not removing the kit. It's removing the tape residue from the panels in preparation for good adhesion with new tape. I had blisters on my finger tips from rubbing tape off the back of the panels and then rubbing them down with goo-gone, then alcohol, and then panel prep/3M tape primer before finally adhering the panels. It is a tedious process... get your alcohol ready (and not the rubbing kind). :D https://i.postimg.cc/sX4tnhsw/20.jpg |

Has anyone tried TSP on cleanup? Paint damage from it or no?

What about fine fishing line? I used dental floss(Not aero kit but other things such as badges/emblems) but apparently don't have hoss enough floss to last longer than 10-20 seconds.

The floss to use is ribbon floss but I bet some super thin fishing line would be better...
