side emblems
Im just wondering if the side emblems (3.0) are just stuck on with the adhesive tape or if there is a hole behind them.
Whats the easiest way to remove them? |
they're just adhesive.
Get a length of fishing line and work it in behind the emblem. you can heat them up with a hair dryer to make it easier. |
They are stick-on and a hair dryer will aid in prying them off.

Just slide some fishing lien behind them and work it back and forth and they'll come right off. It's an old Corvette trick for removing body-side molding from Z06's. |
A good dental floss will also work. ;)

To clean the adhesive off ,use a degreaser. |

rip em off
just rip em off and then use a little adhesive remover. They are attached with a 3m spongy like material.. just be careful not to bend the metal part back against the paint

Nice Gresch! ....remember to follow the floss with wd-40 on a cotton rag...It'll remove the adhesive left over (as well as any wax....) ...ah badgeless....

Yer okay iam sure you would remove the 4.8is emblem! anyway i just wanted to know why i hope its not to replace with 4.4 or 4.8 if its just to have a clean look each to there own i think they are small enough not to be a problem. would you remove the X5 emblem from the back to? i guess if you took all off it may look clean but iam sure thats not the reason.

Contrary to what you and some others might think, some people don't care to show off that they have the biggest and best of the range and don't feel like crying at night because he/she doesn't own the best of the best. Yes, I am taking issue with your suggestion that people remove the 3.0 or 4.4 badge because they feel inferior rather than wanting a cleaner look. So you're better than me because you have a 4.8is and a Ferrari F355. I admit it. That's just great. There's always someone with bigger and better toys and we all just try to enjoy what we have and enjoy others' pride in their rides, whatever they are. Hell, we have many members here who don't even own X5's. They're all welcome just the same. |
WOW..........take a pill. try reading the post again i dont care someone is removing the emblem, if its the cleaner look they are going for if thats what they want to do. i bought the 4.8is because i liked it and am very lucky. if someone wants to put the kit on there car thats fine by me i dont care hey it looks very nice. i would hope that they dont put the 4.8is emblem on as well but each to there own. it wasnt me who said they maybe replacing it with a 4.4 or 4.8 anyway its no big deal. iam not better than you never said i was iam just very lucky.

I asked the question why but didnt get an answer. i was just interested why someone would take them off they are small and really dont seem to distract from the overall look of the car. someone else then said maybe to replace with 4.4 etc..... if someone whats to do that so be it I JUST THINK ITS LAME and we are not saying thats why this guy wanted to know. who cares about bigger fish as long as your happy with what you have, am i happy.

i don't get y it's so hard to imagine someone
wanting to de-badge for a cleaner look. my previous 4Runner had 3 badges on the rear hatch. to me, it looked as if Toyota just threw them on w/o any thought as to how it looked. i de-badged simply for a cleaner look. i wasn't trying to fool anyone into thinking i had the Limited Edition. |

My wife and I were talking about the challenge of debating via a forum--sometimes very casual remarks or points can resonate beyond their intent. The give and take of talking in person is lost...In any event, a friend of mine came by my office last week to show off his new Audi A4/S...his family is big into cars and the first thing they do is de-badge or re-badge...it has never ocurred to me to debadge, but it can be a very clean look...the X5 comes in what I call Residential, Commercial, and Industrial strength; they all get us from point A to B and except for folks here, 99% of the world does not know the difference...

OK here is a question. I like the clean de-badge look myself, alot of European cars are like that, but what if you car is 3 years old like mine. When you de-badge it will the paint be faded and the old badge still be visible because of that?

I remember in the early 80s I had a company E30 316i and took the emblem off and stuck on a 325i one!No longer had an inferiority complex! |
