Weird Vacuum Leak

I've been chasing a code that pops up. I get a cel and the code is for trim too rich bank 2. I can reset it it and it goes for a while and then comes back. Thanks to someone on here mentioning that over rich can be caused by a vacuum leak (counter-intuitive - would expect lean codes), I did a smoke test. Sure as s**t, smoke started pouring out of a crack in the portion of the intake elbow that goes to the idle control valve. And I mean pouring. Wrapped it with rescue tape and retested. I still got a few wisps of smoke, nothing like before. Ordered new part and will change this weekend. In the mean time, fuel mileage is better, long term fuel trims are better and no code. We'll see if everything holds after I put in the new part.

Use a knife to cut out old boot. The back clamp screw is inaccessible from the factory.

Super glue is the best way to patch a crack in rubber will be air tight.

Put anew elbow on yesterday. Was not very difficult at all. Hardest part was getting a wrench on the clamp holding it on the throttle body. Was ready to pull the idle control valve to make some room, then I looked at it again and figured out how to finagle the wrench in. Loosened it up, popped it off and put the new one on. Put everything back together and smoke tested it again, just to make sure I hadn't missed anything. No leaks. Been running well so far.

Not to be cynical but I congratulate you on finding it EZ. The first time I did mine it was EZ only to find it wasn’t all the way home and shortly worked it’s way loose. I went through just about every tool in the box getting mine done.
