Self/Headlight Level sensor reset
Hi guys,
I changed all the front suspension parts and now the front of the truck is sitting high. The height looks like the factory height but I had lowered the truck using my bmw software/computer. Do I need to reset the hight to my liking or should it automatically go back to the setting before I started working on the truck once the work is completed? I dont have a problem using the computer to lower the front but I want to make sure there arent other issues. I am not getting asny error message on the dash. Thanks |
I'm looking into this myself as my 4.8is has SLS issues right now and I need to replace the height sensor. I know DIS and ISTA have a height calibration ability, but not sure if that is required? I'm curious what others say...

For me, it seems I didnt install the sensor in the correct position. Does anyone has picture of how the sensors should actually be positioned?
I messed around with it just now and now its sitting vey low and its not raising or lowering when I hit the button. |
If anyone can take a picture of their sensor so I can see the orientation i would really appreciate it.

Mine is a little different. The sensor and that black plastic piece goes straight across and then attached to the linkage thats attached to the control arm. So it looks like an inverted L. tomorrow Ill mess with it to fix it.
Thanks guys |

I tired every orientation there is. Yesterday it sat high, I move it and it sat too low. Today I messed with it and now its sitting way too high. And it doesn't change heigh as I moved them. I shut the engine off. raise and lower it and no success. Should the suspension respond as soon as the sensor is put in a different position? Does anyone know how exactly this thing work?

Now that your sensors are in the correct orientation you will now have to put the X on a flat, level surface and code the height. You can use a Foxwell or ISTA, etc.

Yeah you need to calibrate it. I was able to use INPA for it as well
