Power Steering Fluid ATF?
I have to add power steering fluid. The cap says "ATF" only and its red fluid in there now.
What ATF do you add "F" ford type or Dextron? or is there something else? 2006 3.0 Thanks |
Generally a Dexron fluid is used. You can also use Mobil1 full syn for a little heavier viscosity fluid.

Thanks so much dude!!! Will use the Mobil One

Mobil 1 ATF is easy to get and that's what I have been using (turkey baster method reservoir fluid change annually) for the last 13+ years without issues.

Power Steering Fluid ATF?

Good information to know what’s been used and worked well over time. I’ve been topping off when needed with regular ATF but I’ll give it some Mobil 1 once I do a drain and refill. Thanks for sharing. Sent from my iPhone using Xoutpost.com |
+1 on mobile 1 f/s atf. I couldn't find the exact spec fluid so I just threw the stuff in & its been working fine...

+1 on Mobil1 as a candidate.
Personally, whenever I need a DEXRON or MERCON spec ATF Fluid I use AMSOIL Signature Multi ATF in my transmissions as well as for the PS Fluids where specified. Been using the AMSOIL ATF for decades with no issues. Was also using AMSOIL engine oils during the same decades but about 2 years ago I switched to Rotella T6 since I no longer need the 25K or 1 mile life of the AMSOIL engine oils and T6 has near the same TBN value and is much lower cost. :dunno: Mike |
