Will my battery died if I leave the lower tailgate open ?
Hi guys - off question eh ?!
I need to transport a long item that will involve the lower tailgate being open so it can fit. I'm going to need to stop for a few hours but will the tailgate being open flatten the battery (I'll turn the interior lights off) ? |
Latch the latch for the upper tailgate it will turn off the tailgate lights. I work off my tailgate for all day sessions it won't drain the battery

Ideal :)

It should shut down and go into sleep mode after about 15-20 minutes, just like your interior lights would get shut down after 15-20 minutes if you leave your doors open.
|
Can't you also press the center button on the overhead console twice and shut the lights off, or does that not include the cargo lights?
|
Doesn't include hatch lights. I use mechanic mode all the time (hold for three seconds and it deactivates the door switches until you press the overhead button) but that doesn't affect the hatch lights.
I just push the latch shut with my thumb, typically I'll hang something in the latch like a "remove before flight" tag so I don't slam the hatch shut while already locked. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
That's right, "hold for three seconds", that's what I was thinking of - doh! Total mental block!
|
What do you hold for 3 seconds, the center button overhead?
|
Yes. Center button on the overhead console. Although I don't understand why it doesn't have the tailgate lights on that whole system, I mean what if you wanted to dump a body? So you can get out without the interior lights coming on but the dead body gets a light? Poor planning...[emoji6]

Don't worry about it, as mentioned, hatch light will go out when it goes to sleep.
