Unfortunately, you have the hardest model to do the aftermarket systems install. Everything needed is in the back of the X5 (amp, radio, etc)to connect to the headunit up front.

One of our members Crystalworks made his video of a nav equipped X Avant-4 install for another member.

He took it completely apart for his install but it is done like the factory would have routed the harness. Others have simply routed the wires down the right side under the door sill covers. 2 hours vs. 8 hours, up to you.

That's the way I routed mine. I also cut the rear connectors off the harness. It makes it much easier to fish it through tight spaces and eliminates the need for disassembling more than necessary. You just have to reconnect the wires, but it's not hard with butt connectors and crimper.

FYI-I took the route along the driver's side. I did not go under the door sills. It was the same route I used going through the several generations of the Mediabridge years ago. There is nowhere there is a chance the wires can be pinched or cut and have never had any problem with the route. There was only one place I had to fish the wires. The space was about the size of a baseball so it was not necessary to cut connectors. Whatever you choose to do, be sure you first run the wires over the seats to verify everything is working before the final routing. I posted pictures of the wire routing. It takes me about 30 minutes to complete the routing.

I never remove more parts than necessary to do any DIY, not because it saves time but because in my experience has been that the more complex or the greater the extent of the disassembly the greater the chance of breaking something or causing another unrelated problem.
