Hacking the non-hifi amplifier?
Anybody ever opened up the non-hifi booster amplifier on their X5?
I'm fitting an AVIN setup and it has more power than the BMW system so I'm looking to rewire a little bit like I did back on my E34 stereo. Is the booster amp driven by speaker-level signals then boosted to drive crossover networks to the 10 speakers? The E34 used 4 STI TDA2005 chip amps to run the speakers through a passive crossover network mounted inside the amp in the boot. The head unit was low-power, maybe 4WPC and the booster put it at 20WPC or so. I'm assuming the non-hifi is similar but I've not hacked it open yet. |
