MAF

will a poor maf make a difference to fuel economy im supposed to get about 850klm to a tank and i probably get about 700 to 750 but the maf i put in cost 42aud on ebay where as a bosch one cost like aud300 the scan say the maf has a problem and the temp reads -5 degrees:rolleyes:but 100k of diesel is like ten bucks

Why did you change the MAF in the first palce? What exactly does the scan say?

And the external temp reading of -5Deg.C. is significant - something is really messed up.

I get more like 900-1,000km on a tank of diesel - even more on a trip (nearly 1,300km once... the BC range value sat on "999" for nearly 300kms!)

Yeah I get about 850kms on my gasoline N62 with a full tank . Your new MAF 8s not properly built. Aftermarket crap. A lot are. Yes the MAF can severely.adjust fuel usage AND so can the intake manifold temperature sensors. If they are reading too cold then they always allow more fuel in to burn more to get engine to proper operating temp, yet in fact the engine is at Operating temp. BUT if the temp reading at MAF is low, something is wrong with that MAF or your wiring in harmess
