What are the 2020 New Years Resolutions for your E53?
 

As we start the new year, what is everyone's resolution list for 2020?

My short list:

• Install front wheel bearings
• Replace rear lower control arm bushings
• Replace rear ball joints
• Change front and rear diff fluid
• Replace engine mounts

For the 2005 4.4


* buy the camber plates front and rear.
*align it.
*keep it healthy and leak free.


For the 2001 3.0 5MT


* buy the lift kit/ Lift it
* buy bigger tires/ mount them
* buy a top roof tent / go have adventures
*fix the ABS module.

Keep it running for another year?

2003 Dinan 4.6 - sell it

2006 4.8 - refresh front suspension, valley pan, replace peeling steering wheel trim

get rid of the 4x4 warning light that seems to be having no effect on literally anything at all

Tires...I have been putting off new skins for a couple of years.
The choices for the 19" staggered tires are fading, and I have to find a new Indie to do a very careful tire/wheel change out as my Asheville area Indie retired and left.

The peeling steering wheel trim is really easily done if you want to do it the way I did, I used 3M Carbon Effect Vinyl and wrapped it, looks great to! However Avery do a Soft Matt Black that is almost identical to the original colour and texture. So you could do that.

As I had a turbo failure over the festive holidays, I am switching out the steel manifold for a X8r Cast Iron one, all new gaskets, etc... Reconditioned Garrett Turbo and new Intercooler to turbo hose. All in with an oil change, its over £700 in parts alone so I am happy that I can do this work myself as it would be a PITA if I had to pay 8 hours labour at £90 per hr. So that would but the job at over £1600 which is half the value of the car.

Adding drive belts and the assorted tensioners and idler to the winter project list. So far no snow only rain so the salt man has not visited yet. Last year they dumped so much around here that it looked like rumble strips everywhere. It took two and three hard rains to wash it into the creeks so we now have no aquatic life left in the creeks...but the Gov workers can get to DC!

Replace it with a 2016!

1970 Firebird Under restoration

1. finish the stereo install
2. install new front air bags
3. motor mounts
4. get exhaust redone as it hits the diff/axle bolts on occasion
5. realign front bumper

That's the short list other things will turn up.
