I think there is a misunderstanding here.

Are you suggesting that I should plug the head unit back in along with the Eonon, in order to trigger the DSP amp and keep it running (much like the other thread is suggesting)?

A couple of comments...


When I was doing my install I drove around briefly without the factory headunit in place but everything else as before and was amused to find that the sound system still worked and I could control the volume and the station choice with the steering wheel buttons. I know this contradicts what I'm suggesting above! But it also confirms that the factory headunit is really mostly a user interface rather than the brains or brawn of the system.


After I did my install I was only getting sound out of the front speakers. I posted about that in another thread here and someone (Overboost?) was quick to reply that I should set the amp/equalizer settings in the Android radio's app to flat and to only use the DSP app that talks to the DSP amp through the Resler ibus interface.

I concur, the next step is to connect the factory unit back in to confirm whether the amp is the problem or not, and I agree that the factory unit is just an interface since the radio tuner, amp (DSP in this case), CD Changer, NAV unit, are all in the trunk.

You would think that the Eonon (or others) would also be the same, but who knows? It also seems that the more expensive units such as the Dynavin are truly plug-n-play, with fewer issues than Eonon, which makes sense as they are probably more feature rich...
