I’m back! Also Parts?

Good Morning All!

After some time I’m back with another E53 — a bit newer this time.

And with all things, parts break and after a big family get together my door handle carrier snapped on me in the parking lot. I’ve replaced a handful of these in the past but with BAVAuto gone, is there any good place to get parts now?

Thank you in advance!

If it’s the usual break you can fix for almost free with a stainless zip tie. See my awr-fix on the subject (search titles and user andrewwynn)

Well. When I attempt to open it from the outside, it travels about half an inch but it doesn’t go in all the way.

When the hinge breaks the handle will lift easily but not do anything. The most common break.

If you can’t lift because it’s frozen it will move a bit and be firm. Don’t pull hard that’s how they break. Open from inside. I’ve thought I’ve broken a DHc a few times and just open from the inside, drive until it’s warm and it defrosts and starts working.

Now will be a good time to code your windows so you can lower them with the FOB. This way you can use the inside door handle to get into the X. I also have a set of oem exterior door handles left and right in Schwarz color (Black to you who don't know German).

You can also open window with the key in the door. I think that may be default factory settings

FCP Euro has been my go-to lately. Everything they sell has lifetime warranty as long as you own the vehicle. Even motor oil.
