Flashing red light on navigation/radio?
 

Hi, recently my battery died after I have not driven the car for about 1 week. After charging it up everything is fine except one thing. I noticed that on the navigation screen top right corner there are 3 lamps/bulbs and the middle one is blinking when I start up the car and it stays flashing when I drive it. Previously it would stay solid red but now it's flashing. What does that mean?

Top right side above the phone symbol.

Those 3 LEDs are your telephone status LEDs. Without any vehicle info given or listed...I can't say if your phone or Bluetooth connections are not communicating properly with a network.

• illuminated GREEN LED = phone call in progress
• illuminated RED LED = phone is on (if flashing = not communicating with network)
• illuminated AMBER LED =
  • (steady) roaming in HOME system
  • (flashing) roaming in different system vs HOME system

If you are BT capable...double check to see if your phone and X5 have been unpaired. If you have a phone system, make sure that the in-car phone isn't trying to communicate with a network that isn't available. Try pressing the send/end button which is the button right below the 3 LEDs.

Hi. Thanks for the answer. Mine is a 2006 BMW e53 3.0 D. I did remove the sim card from the car phone recently as it's no longer active maybe will even remove the phone itself as I'm not sure if it's draining battery. Not sure if I do have bluetooth, will try pressing the send button :thumbup:

In the USA market...all e53s after the 10/2004 build date have Bluetooth built in. It may not be that way where you are...but you can visually see the top back end of the BT TLC module (its mounted at an angle) on the left side of the cargo area when you remove the far rear removable panel.


If you can see the tip of the BT module...then you might be able to connect to it following the instructions below:


KL R = ignition position 1
KL 15 = ignition position 2

If your market continued to use the ULF BT module along with a built-in phone...you may need to use the procedure below to pair to your e53 X5 (if you have the BT module):
